Guthia Mosque- A spectacular masterpiece! 

In my previous post The Best Places Of Barisal I have discussed that the main attraction was visiting Guthia Mosque- A spectacular masterpiece! 

This fantastic work of design and largest place of worship for Muslims in Bangladesh is absolute spell-binding. The Guthia mosque is while not a doubt a must-see after you visit Barisal. 

No matter your religion may well be, it doesn’t change the actual fact that this mosque could be a work of art that deserves to be appreciated with an open mind.

Before you enter the mosque, here’s one necessary factor once visiting the mosque: 

Women should be covered from head to toe. Literally, Wear pants and long-sleeved shirts that don’t seem to be skin tight, then wear a shawl or burka on the head to cover the bulk of the hair. Men should additionally wear pants and proper shirts

Location of this mosque: 

Guthia Mosque is one of the biggest mosques in Bangladesh, that is found in Changuria village of Guia Union beneath Uzirpur station house in Barisal division. The large mosque was designed on a 6-acre land regarding 5 km from Barisal town. Though referred to as Guthia mosque, its original name is Baitul Aman. 

Brief Description of Guthia Mosque:

The Baitul Aman Jame mosque complex usually referred to as Guthia mosque of Barisal, is a mosque complex of Bangladesh having a land area of 14 acres, compared to the 8.30 acres land area of the national mosque Baitul Mukarram of the country. 

Established on December 16, 2003, Guthia mosque is additionally a holidaymaker spot in Bangladesh. Construction of the musjid complex began December 16, 2003, under the direction of the SAS Foundation. 

The complex could be a private initiative by Sharfuddin Ahmed, a local politician, and a businessperson. 

The complex was designed by a bunch of Bangladeshi architects. the cost of the development in those times was 200 million BDT. 

The complex was inaugurated on October 20, 2006, with 3 Great Lakes, a mosque, an orphanage, a madrasa, an Eidgah and 58 meters high minaret made of white marble.

 The mosque complex stands on 14 acres. The mosque itself consists of 20 domes. The 3 lakes surrounding the mosque are placed so that they reflect the entire mosque from totally different angles.

Gardens are placed around the lakes and also the mosque. a number of calligraphies of Ayatul Kursi are found around the mosque and therefore the inner part of the dome of the mosque also has the Ayatul Kursi carved on it. The inner wall of the mosque has the Sura ar-Rahman written on it. 

The inner part of the musjid has a capability of 1,400 people, whereas the outer encompasses a capability of 5,000 people. Thousands of people will pray within the Eidgah adjacent to the mosque at a time. 

The 58 meters high minaret of the mosque is the tallest within the country. A cemetery stands on the south-eastern part of the complex. 

Journey Mode: 

By road, you will reach Dhaka from Barisal in 3 to 5 hours. on a daily basis from 7 am to 9 pm, some buses leave from Gabtoli bus terminal to Barisal.

 Most buses cross Paturia ghat to Barisal and some buses cross Mawa ghat to Barisal. Buses from Dhaka stop at Nitullabad bus stand in Barisal.

 By boat or launch from Dhaka to Barisal: 

launches depart from Sadar Ghat between 8 am and 5 pm. 

Of these, Sundarban 1/3, Surabhi 1, Parbat 3, Kirtankhola 1/2 launches are quite good. 

The launches reach Barisal around 7 am. From Barisal Launch Ghat, you’ll be able to hire an auto-rickshaw or ride a local bus to the Guthia mosque. 

Where to stay and what to eat: 

You will be able to find several residential hotels to stay in Barisal town.

 These include Hotel Paradise International, Hotel Grand Plaza, Hotel Athena International, Hotel Hawk International, etc. 

you’ll be able to simply manage one of those hotels. 

For eating, you can find numerous local restaurants in your budget.
